On Sunday morning we took a trip to Mt Tabor, which is a few miles south of Ken's. This park is actually an extinct volcano, a small mountain in the city. Mt. Tabor makes Portland one of only two cities in the continental U.S. to have an extinct volcano within its boundaries. Miles of trails and roadways wind through tall trees and well-maintained landscape, and most lead to the top, a trip rewarded by breathtaking views of downtown and the West Hills from one side, Mount Hood and the outer Eastside from the other. Mount Tabor is filled with joggers and bikers building up their endurance on either the steep roadway or steps. |

We were there on Sunday morning. At the top of Mt Tabor was some kind of religious group holding some kind of a formal get together. Also at the top of the park is a bronze statue of Harvey W. Scott, editor of The Oregonian newspaper from the late 1800s-early1900s. |
