Restaurants and Stores
We had a great time and meals at the following restaurants:
Laurelwood NW Public House - We went here Friday afternoon. This was in the Knob Hill section on the NW side. Ken and I got the micro brew sampler tray consisting of 8 micro brewed beers. It was very good. I had the best fish and chips fried with a great beer batter. The service was great. All in all it was a great Dunch ( dinner - lunch).
Tin Shed Garden Cafe - We walked there from Ken's for breakfast Saturday morning. The place accommodates a majority of its diners on the patio, which is next to a garden. A fire in the huge outdoor fireplace was burning. Breakfast standouts include egg and tofu scrambles served with fresh house-baked potato cakes which were good. I had a breakfast burrito with potato cakes. While we were waiting we sat in the garden and we could serve ourselves at the coffee stand. I had six cups some of which was decaffeinated. The environment, the coffee and the food made the event worthwhile.
Siam Society - This was also within walking distance of Ken's. We ate outside on a large patio. The menu takes both a classic and creative approach to traditional Thai. I had sweet potato fries tossed with white truffle oil and ginger rum glazed roasted chicken. There's also a knockout list of cocktails and selections of beers and wines by bottle and glass.
PORTLAND GROCERY STORES
New Seasons Market- This was a nice high quality store a couple of blocks from Ken's. The had a fantastic beer selection of over 50 micro brewed beers. This include the Guinness non-alchohalic.
Fred Meyer - We stopped and got the barbeque stuff at one of the Fred Meyer Super Stores (variety like Wall Mart). The quality, price and layout out does any store I go to here.
